December 11, 2006

Recently the moderators had a conversation about holiday traditions - traditions we enjoyed as children, and the new and old traditions we have created with our own families.  For me, making nutmeg log cookies (my grandfather is so in love with these cookies that he keeps a copy of the recipe in a safety deposit box) with my daughter wearing her great-great-grandmother's apron is a cherished memory each year.  On Christmas Eve, we also make sure to wear brand-new pajamas and read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas before sending Grace to bed to await Santa Claus while my husband and I wait up until midnight to open our gifts from each other - our own special tradition we created for ourselves since before we were married.  =)

Whatever holiday you celebrate and how you choose to celebrate it, we would love to hear all about it!   What sort of rituals do you have in your household to make the holidays special?    Are they traditions passed on to you from past generations or has your family created brand-new ones?  Do you celebrate the giving of the season by making handmade gifts for loved ones, or extending a few random acts of kindness to others?   Share your family rituals with us here!

Don't forget to check out iVillage's Holiday Central on ways and ideas to make the season fun for all!  Who knows, there may be an idea for a new family tradition just waiting for you to discover it.  =)

'TIS THE SEASON... to update your address!
This is the time of year we dust off our old records and check to make sure out CL contact information is up-to-date.  If you've moved this year, or you're just not sure the address we have for you is current, send us an email at pclmail@mail.ivillage.com and let us know.

Got a brainstorm idea?  If you're interested in what other CLs have had work for a problem that you are encountering, e-mail pclmail@mail.ivillage.com.  Contributers are kept private and we'll tweak issues to make them more general so no one can figure out who submitted.  Whether it's a problem with a co-CL or a problem with hubby not understanding your time online...these are all important issues that make CL'ing more difficult than it should ever be!
