When
I suspected I was pregnant four
and a half years ago, I came upon the iVillage boards and
joined other women in waiting for that big fat positive. When the
happy news was confirmed, I promptly joined the Expecting
Club boards and an online addiction was born.
A couple
of years later when faced with secondary infertility, I relied
heavily on iVillage boards for advice and support. So it should
come as no surprise that when my husband and I made the decision to grow
our family through adoption, I turned to the adoption boards on
Pregnancy & Parenting. I am so glad I did! The Community
Leaders and members on the adoption boards provided a safe haven for me
as I learned the insides of adoption, chose an adoption agency, had
questions and concerns I needed advice on, and as I went through our
homestudy. Perhaps most importantly, the boards have been great in
helping me keep my sanity as our family waits for the moment we get the
news that a little someone is waiting for us to bring them home.
=)
Families nationwide are celebrating National Adoption Month, which celebrates
the unique way families are formed through adoption and honors the
caring individuals that form the adoption triad: birth parents, adoptive
parents and adoptees. The adoption boards at iVillage are also
celebrating, and have tips and ideas on how to recognize National

Chances
are you know somebody that is adopted or has adopted a child. You may
even know a birth parent who made the courageous decision to make
an adoption plan for their child. Maybe you know someone who is
considering adoption or you may be a part of the adoption triad
yourself. Take the time this month to tell somebody you know
whose life has been touched by adoption how much you appreciate them
and how happy you are that they are a part of your life.
