Explore iVillage (EI) is a way you can spread the word about your
community. Each of the boards on the list has an Explore iVillage folder
or thread where you can post an "advertisement" for your board or chat.
Here are some simple guidelines for the program.
-
It’s OKAY to post to EI folders/ threads in
your Community Leader (CL) hat. But if you see a conversation that
interests you on the board, please take your hat off before joining
in.
-
To take part in the Explore iVillage
program, your board should have an Explore iVillage folder or
thread. If it doesn't, please talk to your Community Moderator (CM)
about adding one. In other words, turn about is fair play -- please
don't go to other boards to promote your board unless you are
willing to give other CLs the chance to promote their board, too.
-
Please be courteous to other CLs and other
communities:
-
Don't overwhelm a board with promos. If
the board is extremely slow and EI posts are the only new posts on
the board, it would be better for you to post your promo to
another board. You can post one new promo per month to an EI
folder or thread. Please take the time to create a new promos
rather than bumping your old one -- old ones just feel tired.
-
Please be sensitive about where you
promote your board. If you host a bottlefeeding board, please do
not promote it on a breastfeeding board. (When in doubt, refrain
from posting until you've gotten the okay from the CL for that
board.)
-
Please don't promote your board on a
board that covers the same topic. If you host an infertility board
on Health, don't promote it on an infertility board on Pregnancy &
Parenting because other CLs may feel like you are invading their
turf.
-
Please
note: Magazines boards must work within Magazines
Guidelines, please do not post EI promos on Magazines
boards. If you host a non-magazine board you may allow
Magazines CLs to promo on your boards even though you cannot post
a non-Magazine promo on theirs.
No guidelines can take the place of courtesy,
respect for others and your good judgment and common sense. CMs reserve
the right to remove EI posts when they think it’s appropriate.
If you would like to be added to this,
please e-mail
pclmail@mail.ivillage.com with a request for an
Explore iVillage folder to be added to your board. If you would rather
have invitations be posted to an existing folder or thread, please
e-mail the link to
pclmail@mail.ivillage.com with
EI Invite in the subject line.
Please remember that this will generate
a great deal of traffic to any folder or thread you allow invitations to
be posted to. For this reason, we do not recommend using a folder where
you wouldn't want regular discussion to be moved down regularly by added
EI invitations.
